My bro-in-law told us to check out the railroad station in Winslow that been restored and turned into a museum. Unfortunately, it was closed.
What he didn't tell us is that there was an old hotel, the Posada, that had been restored and was adjacent to the train station. We would have stayed there had we known. The hotel was one of Fred Harvey's hotels along the Santa Fe Railroad. He upgraded the railroad experience to first class with suitable hotels along the way.

As we left Winslow, the winds started blowing fiercely. It was hard holding the van in the lanes. I saw semi's swerve halfway into the adjacent lane with a big gust. We saw one semi that literally been blown on its side (on the other side of I40).
20 miles W of Winslow is the famous meteor crater. The winds were so strong they closed the trails that go along the edge. It was difficult to walk against it. They had recorded a peak gust at 86 mph.
