White Sands National Park
White Sands NP was on the way from Las Cruces to Alamogordo.

It has the largest dune field of white gypsum sand on earth. Adjacent to the park is White Sands Missile Test Grounds. Sometimes the park and road may be closed due to testing. Trinity test site, where the first atomic explosion occurred is 60 miles N of the park. Most of the park is used for recreation, ie, sliding down the dunes on plastic saucer sleds, but a nature trail preserves the native flora and fauna. The photos are mostly from that trail.
