Callejon de Hamel

"I can wait more than you, because I am the time" is the translation of the inscription "Puedo... tiempo." The street has extensive murals, sculptures and installations by Salvador Gonzáles Escalona. I was told that he is a friend of Fidel's. This mural is Santeria inspired. Colorful local resident looked at us quizzically.

Table Linen from La Guarida

La Guarida is one of the top restaurants in Havana, on the top floor of what once was the home of a wealthy family. Several families live on the lower floors. This large room of the grand house is convenient to dry table linen.

Fuster is a noted Cuba artist who has an elaborate installation of colorful mosaics at his home.

A beam of light came down from a hole in the ceiling.

Museo Napoleon

There is a museum to Napoleon in Havana. Walked by on May 1, but it was closed. Stuck lens through space in gate.

Malecon Fisherman

Every morning they are here. Apparently this is the best spot. Spanish colonial fort in the background.

I liked the vertical and horizontal lines along with the asymmetric locations of the windows.

Ocean View

This building is on the Malecon which runs along the Gulf of Mexico. The man in the lower right hand corner has an unobstructed view of the water. Water front property isn't quite the same in Havana as we might expect.

On the Malecon, with the Gulf to the left. Woke for the sunrise on several mornings, but found lots of overcast instead

Starving Dog

There are a fair number of street dogs in Havana. They are pretty thin as suggested here, but not starving. Curiously, all the ones I saw were about the same size, about 20 pounds and 15 inches at the shoulder.

You may wonder why I have this image. It represents how everything is done in Cuba. Improvise and make it work, just do it. You find that the answer to many questions to seeming contradictions is: "It's Complicated." This image shows that complication.
